Nirvamlet

Nirvamlet - A Nirvana/Hamlet inspired devised piece. Kurt Cobain’s ghost haunts his son, Hamlet, who is plagued by a question: did his father really die by suicide, or did his mother have a hand in Kurt’s untimely demise? Playing into the conspiracy theories surrounding whether Courtney Love played a role in her husband’s death, I had the privilege of playing Courtious (a Courtney Love, Queen Gertrude and King Claudius hybrid) in two separate iterations of Nirvamlet with The Band of Toughs.

Our first production premiered as part of the 2018 Boulder Fringe Festival and won the Audience Choice award! We remounted Nirvamlet at the Dairy Center for the Performing Arts in Denver, CO as part of their Off-Center series in the summer of 2019. Reworking the piece in various unconventional spaces throughout the DCPA, we led audience members from the parking garage, to a lounge, down back hallways normally tread only by actors and staff, and finally ended up at the loading dock. We won a True West Award as a result!
